The crystal ball, traditionally a conduit for glimpses into the mystical unknown, takes on an unexpected twist in this artwork. Instead of revealing the ethereal visions of yore, it harbors the glowing interface of the Siri iPhone app. The juxtaposition is striking, as the ancient and the contemporary converge in a dance of time and culture. Siri becomes a symbol of the evolving nature of prophecy and foresight, as it appears to “know” everything for the modern human. The Siri app within the crystal ball represents the modern oracle, offering answers and insights with a mere voice command. And yet is infuriating when the oracle fails to work because “this APP version is no longer supported”.

The painting challenges the viewer to contemplate the ever-changing face of mysticism in a world where ancient practices and spiritual beliefs coexist with the rapid advance of technology. It beckons us to consider how the concept of the crystal ball  was once seen a portal to both the ethereal and mystical, a power which seems to be at everyone’s fingertips in the modern day world.
